On Friday, April 28, El Camino Elementary celebrated Earth Day.  Students rotated from station to station to learn about ways to help our environment.  Upper grade students visited the Star Lab where they learned about ocean currents and how trash and radioactive waste move about the planet.  They ran a recycle relay in which they ran to trash cans to find discarded items such as cans, plastic bottles, and boxes that displayed recycle signs. Students made art out of recycled items.  They also watched a video about endangered species and made posters about the most endangered animals on Earth.  They learned about alternate energy sources such as solar and wind power.  Students even shot off their own air rockets to demonstrate the power of air. Primary students learned about the water cycle, planted beans, made quilt squares and helping hands posters, and did an in-class recycling sort.  All classes participated in the event, from preschool to 6th grade, general and special education classes.  As one student put it, "I learned a lot about the environment, and I had fun!"‚Äč
